Ford Ranger Gets New 3.0V6 Diesel On ‘Platinum’ Spec In Europe

The Ford Ranger Platinum is a Europe-exclusive with a new 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel motor.

Many Malaysians are excited that the new Ford Ranger was launched in Malaysia with loads of variants to choose from. While we get 2.0L diesel and 3.0L V6 petrol engines to choose from, Europe will get a new 3.0L V6 diesel engine on the ultra-high spec Ranger Platinum model.

The 3.0L V6 turbodiesel produces 240PS and 600Nm of torque – extremely impressive numbers. This gives it a maximum towing/loading capacity of 3500kg.

This engine is found in the North American market in vehicles like the F-150. On the Ranger Platinum, it’s paired to the now-familiar 10-speed conventional automatic with re-engineered mounts for better NVH characteristics.

In terms of model line-up, the Ranger Platinum sits below the Ranger Raptor but above the Ranger Wildtrak. It is touted as the ‘pinnacle of the on-road range’ and is luxuriously decked out with leather upholstery, perforated leather seats, quilted seat contrast stitching, open-grain dark maple wood inlays, ambient interior lighting, ‘silk chrome’ exterior appointments, a unique grille design, 20″ alloy wheels with ebony detailing, a soft close tailgate, privacy glass, and roof rails.

The Ford Ranger Platinum comes with the same dual 12″ display layout that fully replaces traditional gauges in the cockpit. The infotainment screen is portrait oriented and runs SYNC 4A. The audio experience is provided by B&O and features 8-speakers in total. The cockpit of the Ranger Platinum features a wireless charging pad, a FordPass Connect modem and can be updated with Ford Power-Up software updates over time. The front seats also come with 10-way power adjustments as well as heating and cooling functionality.

In terms of safety and driver assistance, it comes with the same kit as the Wildtrak model but is enhanced with Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, Blind Spot Information System with Cross-Traffic Alert and Trailer Coverage, Lane Change Warning & Aid as well as a 360-degree camera.
