Foreign hostesses offered at RM150–RM300 in Puchong karaoke, 65 arrested

A THREE-STOREY karaoke and entertainment outlet in One Puchong Business Centre has been raided by immigration officers, who arrested 65 foreign nationals—47 of whom are suspected of working as guest relations officers (GROs).

The raid, conducted under Ops Gegar on Wednesday night, began at 9.15pm and revealed the use of foreign women as paid companions to patrons, said Director-General of the Immigration Department, Datuk Zakaria Shaaban.

“The modus operandi of this karaoke and entertainment centre involved presenting foreign women as ‘companions’ to customers, which served as the main attraction between 7pm and 3am daily,” he said in a statement.

“The premises operated in a glitzy setting with loud music that kept patrons entertained. These women were offered to customers at a rate of RM150 to RM300 for the first three hours,” he added.

A total of 187 individuals were screened during the raid, with 65 arrested. Those detained include 16 male workers from Myanmar, 18 Thai women, 17 Vietnamese women, six women from Laos, four Filipinas, and two Indonesian women. The suspects are aged between 20 and 55.

All detainees have been taken to the KLIA Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

Zakaria added that the premises owner is also under investigation for allegedly harbouring undocumented migrants, an offence under Section 55E of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

In a separate raid, 36 Bangladeshi men were detained at a recycling factory in Shah Alam on the same day at 2.35pm. They are being investigated under Sections 6(1)(c) and 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. - August 28, 2025
