Four foreign nationals, including a 14-year-old, crash while fleeing a police inspection in Shah Alam, leading to arrests for immigration and drug offences

SHAH ALAM: A group of foreign nationals attempting to flee a police inspection met with an accident when the car they were travelling in skidded in Section 18 here this morning.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said police received information at 9.49 am from officers on the ground who were pursuing a sedan at Dataran Otomobil, Section 15 heading towards the Section 15 roundabout.

He said the incident began when the driver refused to stop the vehicle after being instructed by police officers and instead sped off, driving recklessly and endangering other road users.

“The vehicle skidded and crashed into a lamp post in a residential area in Section 18 before all the suspects, comprising three men and one woman aged between 14 and 41, were apprehended.

“Further checks found that all the suspects did not possess valid travel documents, while initial urine screening showed that two of the four suspects tested positive for drugs,” he said in a statement today.

He said inspection of the vehicle did not uncover any illegal items.

Anyone with further information on the case is urged to contact investigating officer Sgt Mohd Ariff Mat Saman @ Abdul Ghani at 019-2647349.
