Foreign traders face restrictions at the Johor Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars, with a clear directive that prohibits them from conducting business at these sites. Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor, the Johor Housing and Local Government Committee chairman, emphasized that local authorities (PBT) do not and will not issue small business licenses to foreigners. Any instances of foreign traders operating in these areas should be reported, and the authorities will take immediate action, including fines and confiscation of goods.

Mohd Jafni explained that foreign traders are well aware of these restrictions, which is why enforcement actions are being taken, especially in Greater Johor Bahru. He mentioned that the state government has approved a total of 9,769 business plots across 182 Ramadan Bazaar locations and 1,904 business plots for 25 Aidilfitri Bazaar locations this year.

In addition to adhering to the ban on foreign traders, approved traders must comply with all regulations set by their respective local authorities. This includes rules against selling pirated goods and maintaining cleanliness at their business sites. Moreover, all 16 PBTs in Johor will collaborate with the Ministry of Health to ensure traders follow hygiene protocols. Compliance with the Food Act 1983 is crucial to ensure the safety and quality of the food sold at these bazaars.

Mohd Jafni emphasized that these regulations are not new to most traders, as many of them also operate in night markets, morning markets, or farmer's markets. The focus is on ensuring that all traders, regardless of the market they operate in, maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere to the law.

As the Ramadan and Aidilfitri bazaars are important cultural and economic events in Johor, these regulations are in place to ensure fairness among traders and to uphold the quality and safety standards expected by the public. The cooperation of traders and the public in adhering to these regulations is crucial to the success of these bazaars and the well-being of all involved.
