
LAHAD DATU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) detained a fishing boat for conducting illegal fishing off Felda Sahabat waters, here, on Wednesday.
Lahad Datu Maritime Zone Director, Maritime Commander Dzulfikhar Ali said, the boat was detained at about 10.30am following a routine patrol under Ops Pluto Timur and Ops Tiris.
The blue and white boat without registration number was detected at 4.1 nautical miles south of Tanjung Tungku.

The foreigner failed to produce any identification document or legal permit to carry out fishing activity in the national waters.
“The case would be investigated under the Immigration Act 1959 and Sabah Port and Harbor Enactment. The case will be handed over to the Investigation Officer for further action,” he said, adding that the seizures were estimated worth RM300,000.
In the meantime, MMEA stressed their commitment in combating intrusion on national waters by foreigners and illegal fishing activities that affecting local sea resources.
