A Form 4 student from Bentong, Pahang, was reported missing by his family when he failed to return home after school yesterday afternoon (9 December). Unfortunately, the boy was later found dead on a hilltop.

According to a report by China Press, the student did not return home for a long time after school, and his family’s attempts to reach him by phone were unsuccessful. His family then proceeded to call the police for help.

Members of the public later found a motorcycle matching the one belonging to the boy at the foot of the hillside at Bukit Desa Damai. There, the police, firefighters and members of the public launched a search party for the student, who was eventually found dead near the hilltop.

After an examination by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH), the student was confirmed dead.

“Incidents involving the loss of life, especially those believed to be caused by emotional stress or mental health problems, are an important reminder to the community that this issue needs to be taken seriously,”

“The concern of family, friends and the community is very important – being aware of changes in behaviour or signs of stress in those closest to them, as well as seeking early help from professionals, can help prevent such situations from recurring,” they explained.

Our sincerest condolences to the student’s family and loved ones.
