Former A-G Idrus Harun among new members of Judicial Appointments Commission

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 18 — Former Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun is among four individuals appointed as new members of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) for a two-year term, effective November 1.

Also appointed were former Federal Court judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali, former Sarawak attorney-general Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid, and Universiti Teknologi MARA law lecturer Assoc Prof Hartini Saripan.

The JAC Secretary’s Office said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made the appointment in accordance with Subsection 5(1)(f) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009.

“The appointment is for a two-year term until Oct 31, 2026,” it said in a statement today.

New members are appointed to replace Tun Md Raus Sharif, Tan Sri Suriyadi Halim Omar, Datu Abdul Razak Tready, and Assoc Prof Datuk Shamrahayu Ab Aziz, whose term ended on September 3.

The JAC expressed its appreciation and gratitude for the service and contributions of Raus, Suriyadi, Abdul Razak, and Shamrahayu during their tenure as commission members.
