Former FELDA DG charged with cheating at KL court

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 - A former director-general of the Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA) was charged in the Sessions Court here today with deceiving the authority’s board of directors in connection with a power of attorney used to transfer ownership of 16 parcels of its land in Jalan Semarak in 2014.

Datuk Faizoull Ahmad, 66, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read before Judge Suzana Hussin.

Faizoull, in his capacity as FELDA director-general, is accused of deceiving the board by concealing a power of attorney dated June 3, 2014, which granted Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd the authority to transfer ownership of the 16 parcels of land involved in the proposed FELDA Lot Development Project in Jalan Semarak.

The alleged deception induced the board to agree to the power of attorney, resulting in the ownership of the FELDA land being transferred to Synergy Promenade KLVC Sdn Bhd and Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd, which the board would not have agreed to had it not been deceived.

The offence was allegedly committed at the Board Meeting Room on Level 50 of Menara FELDA, Platinum Park, Persiaran KLCC, on September 2, 2014.

Faizoull was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between one and 10 years, caning and a fine upon conviction.
