Former Judge Dato' Syed honoured as the 1st Recipient of Bronze Tiger Award of the King Scout Brotherhood of Malaysia

The King Scout is a respected member in the Brotherhood of Scouting regardless of age (normally 18 years old and above), gender, race, religion and state of origin. Parents and schools recognise the amazing work and commitment of the King Scouts through the Meritorious Conduct and Gallantry awards each year that specifically celebrate individuals in the Roll of Honour. It has been established that King Scout Brotherhood should continue to render their service in nation-building and community development.

In a media release issued by King Scout Brotherhood of Malaysia on 17 July 2023, “It takes great pride in presenting the Bronze Tiger Award to Dato' Syed Ahmad Idid, a distinguished figure whose remarkable contributions to the Scouting fraternity and society at large have left an indelible mark. This esteemed honour is bestowed upon Dato' Syed as a testament to his outstanding achievements and unwavering commitment to community service in pioneering the brotherhood's success and shaping it what it is today.”

The said statement explained “The Bronze Tiger Award is in recognition of Dato' Syed exceptional contributions, outstanding leadership and remarkable achievements that made a profound impact on the Scouting fraternity and society as a whole. He serves as an inspiration to all Scouts, reminding the power of perseverance, integrity, and service above self in contributing towards a meaningful and fulfilling life. This Award is similar to the highly renowned Bronze Wolf Award to Scouting context in the world."

Dato' Syed's leadership in youth and scouting development started in his childhood life which had a lasting impact on society. He had served the Royal Customs & Excise Department, Industry, Banking, the Legal & Judicial Service in Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak, Negara Brunei Darussalam, and Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration.

Dato' Syed, a Member of the Eminent International Advisory Panel of Sejahtera Leadership Initiative (SLI), is a retired judge and a distinguished law writer who has made significant contributions to legal literature, publishing influential works such as “Legal Decisions Affecting Bankers and Financiers”, "Magistrates' Courts Handbook" and “Essentials Arbitration.” His commitment to knowledge dissemination and ability to simplify complex legal concepts made him a revered figure within the legal community.

Two other eminent recipients of the Bronze Tiger Award are Tan Sri Gooi Hoe Soon, Chairman of AIA, and Dr. Mohammad Mukhyuddin Sarwani, Deputy National Chief Commissioner of Scouts Association of Malaysia. This significant event was attended by over 200 King Scouts. Congratulations to Dato' Syed, Tan Sri Gooi and Dr. Muk.
