KUALA LUMPUR: Former Liverpool striker Luis Garcia has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) football club, effective April 1, 2025.
This strategic move aims to enhance and maximize the club's management expertise.
Garcia, renowned for his tenure with top European clubs such as Barcelona, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid, brings a wealth of experience to JDT.
He holds a UEFA Pro License and has completed the UEFA Executive Master for International Players program.
Additionally, he has served as an ambassador for FIFA, UEFA, and LaLiga, underscoring his extensive involvement in international football.
In conjunction with Garcia's appointment, JDT has restructured its management team. Alistair Edwards, the former CEO, will now assume the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Technical Director.
Edwards previously held these positions from 2017 to 2022, during which he played a pivotal role in developing the club's youth programs and contributing to the success of the JDT Academy.
This restructuring reflects JDT's commitment to strengthening its management and achieving continued success in Malaysian and regional football.
