MELAKA: A former administrative manager of Melaka Halal Hub Sdn Bhd (MHHSB) pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to two charges of abusing his position for bribes.
Erwan Abdul Aziz, 45, was charged under Section 23(1) of the MACC Act 2009 for offences allegedly committed in September 2022 and September 2023.
The first charge alleges he secured a commission of RM1,096.57 by proposing a quotation from a company owned by his wife for fire insurance.
This appointment involved a premium of RM7,310.48 for RM6 million in coverage for MHHSB.

Both offences were allegedly committed at the MHHSB office in Jasin.
If convicted, he faces a maximum 20 years’ jail and a fine of not less than five times the bribe value or RM10,000.

She also ordered him to surrender his passport and report monthly to the MACC Melaka headquarters.
The court set May 14 for mention of the case.
