A total of 147 former military candidates attended physical interviews for MRSM warden positions, with more sessions scheduled next week.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 147 candidates, who are former military personnel, attended a physical interview session for the selection of Full-Time External Wardens for MARA Junior Science Colleges (MRSM), which took place last Monday and Tuesday at the MARA Food Technology Incubator in Kepong.

Through a Facebook post, MARA Chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said that all the candidates had previously passed two phases of online screening before being shortlisted and called for the interview.

He stated that all candidates had to undergo three assessment components – namely Body Mass Index (BMI) screening, the Bleep Test, and a face-to-face interview – to determine their merit and qualification to be appointed as Full-Time External MRSM Wardens, who are scheduled to begin their duties this coming July 1.

“Being an MRSM warden is not just about maintaining discipline and ensuring the safety of the students. They must understand and embody MARA’s Education Philosophy to produce an Ulul Albab (intellectual) generation that is not only academically excellent but also possesses commendable personality traits, good morals, high integrity, and beneficial knowledge of the hereafter.

“Wardens are the second mothers and fathers to the children of MRSM, playing a role as guides, educators, and murabbi (spiritual mentors) in shaping a future generation that excels in this world and the hereafter,” he said.

Asyraf Wajdi also hopes that this initiative will help curb bullying culture, disciplinary misconduct, and social ills, while creating an MRSM environment that is safer, more conducive, and thriving with a ‘biah solehah’ (righteous environment) that emphasizes good manners, respect, love, brotherhood, and a culture of seeking knowledge.

In a related development, he noted that a total of 162 female former military warden candidates will undergo physical interview sessions next week.
