A former special assistant to the Seputeh MP is expected to be charged at the Sessions Court tomorrow in connection with a corruption case involving the Mesra Rakyat Project (PMR).
According to sources, the man involved is scheduled to be charged at about 8.30 am.
The media previously reported that two individuals, including a former special assistant, were remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) after being suspected of soliciting and accepting a bribe of about RM500,000.
The money is believed to be in return for helping approve funds for the project.
The source said that the two male suspects, both in their 30s, were arrested at about 9.30 pm on March 5 last year when they appeared to give statements at the MACC headquarters.
They are suspected of committing the act in 2024 in return for helping to approve a project fund application worth approximately RM1.5 million.
The project is believed to involve the supply of interactive smart boards to several schools around Kuala Lumpur. – May 10, 2026
