KOTA KINABALU: A former Top 3 State Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan (UNK) finalist has lodged a police report over viral social media allegations linking her to a married man.
Dianarin Vahidin, 2021 Paginatan UNK, in a Facebook post on Saturday, said she was wrongly accused of being a “husband snatcher.”
“The accusation is a very serious slander, baseless, and has affected my personal dignity, my family’s good name, and the reputation of the Unduk Ngadau institution,” she wrote.

Dianarin, the first runner-up in the 2021 State UNK, said the online harassment had compromised her safety and emotional wellbeing, prompting her to seek legal advice and file a police report.
She also referred the matter to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) for investigation and further action.
“I take this seriously and believe this should serve as a lesson to be more responsible, ethical, and careful when posting or sharing provocative content online,” she said.
Dianarin expressed gratitude to the Sabah Unduk Ngadau Association (PUNS) for supporting her right to defend herself and uphold her dignity.
She urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to help foster a more respectful and responsible digital environment.
“Unverified condemnation can leave a deep impact on someone’s life,” she said, thanking friends, family, and supporters who stood by her.
State UNK co-chairperson Datuk Joanna Kitingan also responded to the post by saying, “I know you are a brave girl. Making the police report is the right thing to do. Praying the culprit will be caught.”
The controversy began on Friday when a Facebook user posted about her friend being cheated on by her husband, claiming he had an affair with a district-level beauty queen, but did not name anyone directly.
Online users, acting as amateur sleuths, began speculating on the identity of the alleged “husband snatcher,” leading to several Unduk Ngadau participants’ names and photos being circulated without verification.
At press time, the Facebook user who first shared the story had deleted both the initial and follow-up posts and issued an apology for the inconvenience and confusion caused.
