KOTA KINABALU: Sabah and Labuan Umno Veterans Chairman Datuk Sairin Karno led 30 veteran members to join Parti Warisan (Warisan) in a ceremony held at the party’s headquarters in Kolombong here on Wednesday.

Sairin said they believed Warisan’s cause to safeguard Sabah’s future required experienced leadership, and that party president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was capable of steering the State towards progress.

The former Liawan assemblyman and ex-assistant minister under the Barisan Nasional government left Umno after the 2018 election and later joined Bersatu and Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah before deciding to return under Shafie’s leadership.

He said his decision was guided by Warisan’s clear political direction and inclusive struggle for the rights and wellbeing of Sabahans across communities.

Shafie welcomed Sairin’s entry, saying his experience would strengthen Warisan’s grassroots base and inject new energy into the party ahead of the coming state election.

At the same event, former Ranau Bersatu Youth chief Mohd Haris George led 50 young members to join Warisan, while former Karanaan PBS chief and Supreme Council member Danis Biuk also joined the party in support of Shafie’s leadership.
