In a landmark development for oncology in India, Fortis Memorial Research Institute (FMRI) has officially launched the country’s first Centre of Excellence for Myeloma and Lymphoma. This pioneering facility aims to revolutionise blood cancer treatment by transitioning from generalised care to a hyper-specialised, precision-driven model built on the philosophy: “One Disease. One Doctor. One Focus."

The new centre serves as an integrated, multidisciplinary hub, consolidating advanced diagnostics, genomics, cellular therapies, and bone marrow transplantation under one roof. By synchronising experts from diverse fields including haematology, pathology, radiation oncology, and data analytics the initiative ensures that patients receive highly personalised treatment pathways tailored to the molecular profile of their specific cancer.

Dr Rahul Bhargava, Principal Director & Chief of Haematology, Haemato-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant at FMRI, highlighted that the centre functions similarly to the mechanism of bispecific antibodies, acting as a bridge to unite clinical expertise with rapid scientific innovation. “Our vision is to create an ecosystem where scientific discovery is translated into personalised treatment strategies, giving patients access to the most advanced therapies, such as CAR-T, at the right time," Dr Bhargava stated.

By leveraging advanced genomic profiling, the centre enables clinicians to identify actionable mutations and monitor disease progression with unprecedented precision. This approach not only enhances individual patient outcomes but also positions FMRI as a national referral hub.

Yash Rawat, Senior Vice President and SBU Head of FMRI, said the launch reinforced the institute’s leadership in complex cancer care.
