
The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia is embarking on a journey to foster collaboration with institutions in Russia and member countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the XV International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024.
Prof Dr Maszlee Malik, the chairman of IAIS, outlined the institute's commitment to advancing cultural diplomacy with Russia and other participating nations during its inaugural participation at the Kazan Forum.
Dr. Maszlee emphasized the vast potential for collaboration through cultural diplomacy, noting IAIS's collaboration with the Embassy of Russia in Kuala Lumpur to enhance cultural ties. He highlighted various sectors ripe for exploration, including education, literature, halal tourism, people-to-people relations, community engagement, and student exchanges.
"There are countless opportunities for mutual learning among all participating countries," Dr. Maszlee remarked during an interview with Bernama at his office.
Bernama reported earlier that representatives and experts from over 80 countries are set to participate in the XV International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024, scheduled from May 14 to 19 in Russia. Among the OIC member states participating in the forum are the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Malaysia, Turkey, and Iran, according to the KazanForum 2024 secretariat.
This year's KazanForum will feature discussions on diverse topics, including the International Property Market, Halal Expo, medical tourism, and media content development.
President Vladimir Putin, in a message published on the Kremlin website, reiterated Russia's commitment to fostering friendly relations with Muslim nations. He expressed optimism that the forum would facilitate meaningful and constructive dialogue, further strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation among participating countries.
Putin also underscored Russia's support for an independent foreign policy among nations and its dedication to building a democratic multipolar world order based on justice and the rule of law.
Moreover, Putin praised Tatarstan for its remarkable achievements across various sectors, highlighting the region's significant contributions to Russia's development and societal harmony.
The XV International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024 serves as a platform for nations to deepen cooperation, foster understanding, and promote mutual prosperity, reflecting a shared commitment to global peace and stability.
