THE discovery of a decomposing body inside a parked car at a petrol station in Bandar Perdana has shocked locals, after a foul odour emanating from the vehicle drew attention on Friday afternoon.
Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, confirmed that police were alerted at around 3.15pm following a call from a member of the public.
“The caller informed us that a car had been left in the parking area since 4 September and that there was a man inside who appeared unresponsive, with a strong smell coming from the vehicle,” he said.
Initial checks revealed the deceased to be Amear Mat Isa, 51, from Kampung Bukit Choras, Pendang.
“There were no visible signs of injury or any indication of foul play,” Hanyan said, adding that CCTV footage showed the car entering the premises at approximately 3am on 3 September.
Preliminary findings also indicated that the deceased had a known medical history.
A post-mortem is scheduled to be conducted at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital on Saturday to determine the cause of death. - Sept 6, 2025
