Four areas in Selangor record unhealthy API readings

SHAH ALAM, Sept 17 - Four areas in Selangor recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am today, with Johan Setia recording the highest reading at 157.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the other areas were Shah Alam (153), Banting (131) and Petaling Jaya (128).

Nationwide, a total of 29 areas had unhealthy air quality, with Tasek Ipoh, Perak recording the highest API reading at 184.

Perak recorded the most areas with unhealthy readings, with five. 

Meanwhile, 32 areas recorded moderate readings, while seven had good air quality this morning. 

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous.

The public is advised to reduce prolonged outdoor activities and take necessary precautions when air quality deteriorates.
