
Tuaran: Four people escaped death when the four-wheel-drive (4WD) they were travelling in fell into a 10-metre deep ravine near Bayaon, Rangalau Baru, Kiulu, Sunday night.
In the 11.52pm incident, all four in the Toyota Hilux sustained injuries, three of them seriously.
Tuaran Fire and Rescue Station Chief Abdul Qawie Abdul Gapar said the station received a distress call at 11.57pm.
He said a fire engine with six personnel and an EMRS vehicle rushed to the scene immediately.
“When they arrived, the four aged between 12 and 44 had already been rescued by construction workers and passers-by.
“Three of them were seriously hurt while the other one was slightly injured. They were rushed to the Tuaran Hospital with the help of an ambulance and the EMRS,” he said.
He added that after ensuring there was no further untoward incident, the rescue operation ended at 12.55am.
Acting Tuaran OCPD ASP Raji Hussin Suhodin confirmed the incident and said investigation is ongoing.
