LABUAN: Ten foreigners, including four men, two women and four children, were detained during immigration enforcement operations at four locations here on Thursday.
Labuan Immigration Department Director Mohd Redzuan Nawi said 54 Malaysians and foreigners were inspected during Ops Mahir and Ops Kutip, conducted from 9am to 2.30pm.
He said the operations involved 10 immigration officers and covered a shipyard on Jalan Rancha-Rancha, a construction site on Jalan Pohon Batu, Kampung Lajau and Kampung Kiansam, which had been identified as a hotspot.
The detainees are being investigated for suspected offences under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
Two Imm.29 Forms (Summons to Witness) were also issued to assist further investigations.
Meanwhile, Mohd Redzuan said seven Filipino nationals were prosecuted at the Labuan Sessions Court for offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.
He said four were charged under Section 6(1)(c), while three others faced two charges each under Section 6(1)(c) of the Act and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations.
The court sentenced them to between five and eight months’ imprisonment, effective from their date of arrest on Sept 11, 2026.
