
TAWAU: Four residential houses in Kampung Sri Menanti Block C, located in the Otentik Tanjung Batu area here, were completely destroyed by a fire at approximately 5.10pm on Friday.
No casualties were reported in the fire. However, the flames spread rapidly due to the wooden structure of all the affected residences.
Two of the houses that were destroyed were around 30 by 60 feet, another damaged one was 20 by 30 feet, and the smallest was 15 by 20 feet.

A fire team from the Tawau District Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was dispatched to the scene with a strength of 18 personnel, led by Senior Fire Officer II Jehrey Ibno as the Operations Commander.
Upon arrival at the scene at 5:26 p.m., the fire team immediately commenced firefighting operations and took measures to prevent the fire from spreading further.
The Tawau BBP fire team employed a single-stream approach over a distance of 200 feet using two water jets, while also sourcing water from an open water supply.
The operation concluded at 7:45 p.m. after the fire was completely extinguished and all potential threats that could reignite the fire were successfully managed.
Assisting in the operation were six members of the Titingan Community Volunteer Fire Brigade who helped extinguish the fire and prevent its further spread.
