Four killed in small plane crash in Croatia

All four passengers on board a small plane have died in a crash over the Croatian peninsula of Istria, local media reported on Thursday, citing police.

The victims were Austrian nationals, the Austrian Foreign Ministry told the APA news agency.

The Beechcraft Bonanza light aircraft went into a spin while approaching the Medulin airfield near the coastal city of Pula, an eyewitness told Croatian broadcaster HRT.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.

The aircraft was registered in Germany and took off from an airfield near Lienz in East Tyrol, according to Austrian broadcaster ORF.

Authorities are investigating the scene of the accident, an official told HRT.
