Police arrest four suspects for cable theft near Taiping Vocational College, seizing machetes and tools after a teenager reported suspicious activity

TAIPING: Police have arrested four men suspected of involvement in cable theft at Jalan Kamunting-Batu Kurau near Taiping Vocational College.

Taiping Police chief ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail said the arrests occurred around 1.50 am following a tip-off from a teenager who witnessed suspicious activity.

A crime prevention patrol team was immediately dispatched to the location and detained the four suspects aged between 38 and 41.

The men were caught removing a cable manhole cover using specialised tools at the roadside.

Police also seized two machetes, two screwdrivers, and a Perodua Myvi car from the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code for theft and attempted theft.

All four suspects have been remanded for three days until November 17 to assist with investigations. – Bernama
