KOTA KINABALU: Four men were arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers during an operation linked to a madrasah abuse investigation in Telipok on Tuesday.
Kota Kinabalu district police chief ACP Kasim Muda said the incident occurred at about 6.45pm when officers were carrying out their duties to arrest a suspect in connection with a reported child injury and abuse case.
“Initial investigations found that several individuals acted aggressively by blocking the police vehicle, shouting abusive words, attempting to open the vehicle doors, and kicking and hitting the vehicle, which disrupted police duties,” he said in a statement.
Police detained the four student’s family members aged between their 30s and 50s and seized a golf iron believed to have been used during the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code, with police to apply for remand, conduct urine screening tests and record witness statements.
Kasim advised the public to remain calm and cooperate with authorities, stressing that investigations would be carried out professionally, transparently and in accordance with the law to safeguard public order.
