Four villagers rescued from flooded Laos cave after 10-day ordeal

  • Four villagers were successfully evacuated from a flooded cave in Laos after being trapped for 10 days, following the rescue of another person the previous day.
  • The rescue operation, involving teams from Laos, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, France, and Australia, saw the men brought out on stretchers wearing oxygen masks.

  • The trapped men, who had entered the cave in search of valuable minerals, were supplied with food and water before their extraction.
  • Efforts are now focused on draining more water from the cave system and continuing the search for two villagers who remain missing.
