A four-way contest is confirmed for the Permas seat in the Johor state election, with BN, PH, PN and Bersama candidates vying for victory.

PASIR GUDANG: It will be a four-way battle for the Permas seat involving candidates from Pakatan Harapan (PH), Barisan Nasional (BN), Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) in the 16th Johor state election.

The contest was confirmed by Permas Election returning officer Abd Majid Sapihe, who announced the candidate list at the Dewan Muafakat nomination centre in Taman Mawar here shortly after the 10 am nomination deadline.

Seeking to defend the seat is BN incumbent Baharudin Mohamed Taib, who will be up against PH’s Sharon Teo, PN’s T. Vela, and Bersama’s Dr Zamil Najwah.

The Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for July 11, following the dissolution of the state legislative assembly on June 1.

With 2,727,926 registered voters, comprising 2,703,175 ordinary voters, 12,041 military personnel and spouses, and 12,710 police officers and spouses, the stage is set for a closely watched contest.
