FOURTEEN people, believed to include members of non-governmental organisations, were detained in connection with disturbances during eviction operations at several houses in Kampung Papan, Pandamaran last Wednesday.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the detainees, comprising 11 men and three women, were released on police bail after initial investigations.
“The arrests followed reports lodged by parties carrying out the demolition orders. All of them have been released on police bail after initial investigations,” he said at a drug disposal press conference at the Selangor Contingent Police Headquarters on Friday.
The case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing public servants in the discharge of their duties.
Approximately 100 officers from various agencies were deployed to ensure security during the operation.
Tensions flared on Wednesday morning, around 9am, when some individuals claiming to be residents acted aggressively. Several others reportedly lost control and attempted to push past police officers on duty.
Local media had previously reported that 20 homes in Kampung Papan were being cleared from Monday to make way for an upcoming development project.
A team of police officers and the Light Strike Force (LSF) were stationed at the site to maintain order, under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, Chief of South Klang District Police. - November 14, 2025
