Foxtron, the automotive arm for renowned electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn, has unveiled its latest concept model, known as the Model D. What’s interesting about this near-production EV concept is that it is designed in collaboration with renowned Italian automotive design house Pininfarina.

Designated as an LMUV (Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle) by Foxtron, the Model D is essentially a blend of SUV and MPV, featuring rear sliding doors and a lifted SUV-style look. Up front, the Model D sports a sleek full-width LED bar, slotted lower air intakes, and a pair of sleek vertical air vents that flank its grill-less front face. The same high-tech LED bar is also used for its taillight, which is complemented by unique light patterns that cover almost the entire tailgate.

Measuring 5,195 MM long, 1,995 MM wide, and 1,785 MM tall, the Model D is a pretty big MPV that boasts an impressively low drag coefficient rate of only 0.23 Cd.

And despite its sleek and aerodynamically-optimised bodystyle, the Model D still retains a pretty spacious cabin with a 2-2-3 7-seater layout that is decked with tech and comfort amenities. Key features primed here include the wide central infotainment screen that almost spans the full width of the front dash, two captain-style seats in the second row with dedicated mobile phone charging docks built inside the armrest, two rear passenger screens, and many more.

Powertrain-wise, the Model D concept rides on a dedicated EV platform developed by ZF Chassis Modules with an 800-volt battery architecture, but with an unspecified number of electric motors. Also not specified was the exact capacity of its lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, although Foxtron claims the concept can achieve about 660 KM of EV range (WLTP) in a single full charge. Elsewhere, the Model D also rides on an active suspension system that allows the MPV to adjust its ground clearance by 15–25 MM for better ride comfort.

The all-new Foxtron Model D is the third concept model churned out by this Taiwan-based tech firm in collaboration with Pininfarina, where it is slated to enter production in two years’ time. And just like with their other products, the Model D will also be licensed to other automakers, meaning that we might see this sleek EV MPV coming with a different emblem in the future.
