French President Macron urges Israel to seize opportunity for direct talks with Lebanon, calling for an end to hostilities to prevent regional chaos.

PARIS: France is prepared to facilitate ceasefire discussions between Israel and Lebanon in Paris. President Emmanuel Macron made the offer in a post on social media platform X.

He stated that the Lebanese leadership is open to direct discussions with Israel. Macron called on Israel to seize this opportunity to launch talks and find a lasting solution.

The French leader also urged Israel to stop its offensive. He simultaneously called on Hezbollah to cease its actions.

“Everything must be done to stop Lebanon from descending into chaos,” Macron said. He emphasised the talks would allow Lebanese authorities to implement engagements for the country’s sovereignty.
