MELAKA: Youngsters between 13 and 21 years are flocking to the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia (K-KOMM) booth at the Melaka edition of the Keluarga Malaysia Aspirations Tour (AKM) to get free sim cards under the Malaysian Family Youth Package.
Information Department Communications and Design Division chief assistant director Nor Azli Mohd Nor Azlan said over 200 sim cards had been distributed to the group since the three-day AKM Tour kicked off on Oct 14 at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).
“The response has been encouraging due to the student population from the universities and colleges located in Ayer Keroh. They are allowed to choose any sim card for free from the telecommunications companies participating in the AKM Tour.
Nor Azli said other K-KOMM booths set up by the Broadcasting Department, Information Department (Japen), National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and Malaysia Digital Economic Corporation (MDEC) have also lined up interesting activities for visitors.
He said Finas for example, has created an interactive museum through virtual reality (VR) technology and brought in local artistes, such as Anna Jobling and Neera Azizi.
“The Broadcasting Department is providing Melaka FM channels while MDEC has prepared online and face-to-face e-entrepreneurship courses for visitors,” he said.
