A breach in the Upper Bari Doab Canal (UBDC) repaired barely a week ago started leaking again today. Dilpreet Singh, XEN of the Canal Department, said the breach occurred today itself and they hope to plug it soon.
A week ago, a serious rupture had occurred in the canal at the same place. The administration had heaved a sigh of relief after the breach was plugged.
As soon as the fresh leakage came to the notice of the department officials, they immediately rushed employees to the spot.
XEN Dilpreet Singh said the employees have been deployed at the spot to stop the leakage. Meanwhile, the canal is also running full with water. Fearing worse, the administration was in a hurry to plug the leakage.
The Forest Department land nearby is already inundated with water released during the previous breach.
