When it’s vacation time, many of us can’t wait to leave our beloved country for a bit and explore other places with excitement. Little did we know, that many foreigners, such as tourists and celebrities love Malaysia so much that it’s one of the places they call home.

Veteran Hong Kong actor, Simon Yam was at Sunway Pyramid yesterday (November 11) for a promotional event. Fans were eagerly waiting and anticipating his arrival, and everyone cheered when he descended from his car, along with a lion dance performance to welcome him. “Aku Cintamu” (I love you) was the first thing he uttered to the excited fans once he was on the stage. During the promotional event, Simon had a lot to say, especially about how he sees Malaysia.

“It feels like home”

Simon said he flew to Malaysia 3 days after returning to Hong Kong from filming and to him, coming to Malaysia is equivalent to a homecoming, thanks to many Malaysians who always make him feel at home, according to 8TV News.

“Coming to Malaysia is like coming back home. The people here (Malaysians) are friendly, they’re always happy and will greet you everywhere.”

Simon had his ways of telling Malaysians that the country is a great place, without telling them that the country is a great place. The local food also came into play when he was expressing his love for the country, and the 1st thing he did when in Malaysia was to feast on the food.

“The dining experience here is different. I’ve had Hainan Chicken Rice, Kaya, and Char Kuey Teow. The fruits and vegetables here are fresh too!”

This wasn’t Simon’s 1st visit to Malaysia as the veteran actor has been here multiple times in the past. Apart from Hong Kong movies, Simon also had some roles in Hollywood films, such as the 2003’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider as the villain.

You can watch a TikTok below and look at Simon’s grand entrance to the mall.

It’s always fascinating to hear how much a non-Malaysian loves our country!
