Discover a World of Adventure at AOX 2026

Test your riding skills, learn how to repair a 4x4 vehicle under a tree and discover the secrets of setting up camp in the great outdoors.

It’s all happening at the Asia Offroad Expo & Convention (AOX) 2026, at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) from October 23 to 25.

What does it take to manoeuvre an electric offroad motorcycle through a challenging course without losing your balance?

How do you get a 4x4 vehicle moving again when it breaks down in the wilderness, miles from the nearest workshop?

And what should you know before pitching a tent and spending your first night under the stars?

Visitors to the inaugural AOX 2026 can find answers to these questions through hands-on experiences, practical demonstrations and encounters with people who have spent years mastering the skills of offroad riding, vehicle preparation and outdoor adventure.

Whether you are an experienced adventurer or simply curious about life beyond the beaten track, there is plenty to discover.

Take the Surron Precision Ride Challenge

Think you have the balance, coordination, braking skills and control to handle an offroad motorcycle?

Head to the Surron Precision Ride Challenge at WTCKL, where participants can put their riding skills to the test on a lightweight electric offroad motorcycle.

Two people will be on hand to help participants understand what it takes to ride with precision: Malaysian racing legend Oh Kah Beng, founder and principal trainer of Most Fun Gym (MFG), and Daniel Chan, director of Sunrise 86 Sdn Bhd, the Kuala Lumpur dealer for Surron, as well as a self-confessed outdoor and biking enthusiast.

“Riders must demonstrate good balance, deft throttle control and braking if they want to do well in the Surron Precision Ride Challenge,” said Kah Beng.

There will be five two-hour sessions throughout the three-day expo. Visitors can register at the MFG and Surron booths on Level Four, which are located next to each other.

The first session begins at 7pm on Friday, Oct 23. On Saturday, Oct 24, and Sunday, Oct 25, sessions will take place at 3pm and 7pm each day.

Participants will compete for prizes by completing the course in the slowest time without putting their feet on the ground — a test of balance, patience and precise control and braking.

“This is an opportunity for riders to appreciate the finer techniques behind controlled riding and understand why precision is just as important as courage, especially when you find yourself in a critical situation,” said Daniel.

Five prizes will be available each day, according to the organisers.

Kah Beng, a leading Malaysian 500cc GP bike and 250cc production bike rider in the 70s and 80s, will also share his experience and demonstrate the finer points of motorcycle control. https://www.mostfungym.com/

For motorcycle enthusiasts, aspiring riders and anyone curious about electric offroad machines, the challenge offers a real test of not how quickly you can move, but how well you can stay in control.

Learn How to Fix a 4x4 Vehicle Under a Tree

Now imagine your 4x4 breaking down on a remote trail. There is no mechanic nearby, no workshop to call on and perhaps no mobile phone coverage. What would you do?

British offroad expert Dave Gunning brings the practical world of Bush Mechanics to AOX 2026, showing visitors why resourcefulness, mechanical knowledge and a cool head can make all the difference when things go wrong in the wilderness.

The idea behind bush mechanics is straightforward: understand your vehicle, recognise common problems and learn how to carry out practical repairs with the right tools and resources.

For experienced 4x4 owners, it is an opportunity to exchange knowledge and sharpen their practical skills. For newcomers, it is a reminder that responsible offroad travel involves more than buying a rugged vehicle and heading into the jungle.

Dave advised: “Ultimately you will find what works best for you within your budget. Ask others what they carry and why. As for me, I carry less as I can improvise. For me, the best things you can carry are knowledge and understanding.”

Preparing a 4x4 Vehicle to Suit the Terrain

And if you want to discover what it takes to prepare a vehicle for the ultimate offroad challenge, two more personalities have stories worth hearing.

Andrew Graham, owner of British company AlliSport, will share his experience of designing and rebuilding a Land Rover Defender into a formidable rally vehicle before taking it to Saudi Arabia to compete in the Dakar Rally.

Andrew speaks about what is required to transform a familiar 4x4 into a machine built to withstand demanding rally conditions.

Then there is Martin Lewis, an experienced offroad competitor who has also designed courses and special stages for offroad events. Having competed in the Rainforest Challenge three times and served as a special-stage designer for six years, he brings a practical understanding of what it takes to build a vehicle capable of handling challenging terrain.

Malaysia’s jungles remain his favourite environment, making his experience particularly relevant to those who want to understand the demands of offroading in tropical conditions.

HOW TO SET UP TENT AND CAMP SITE: Outdoor enthusiasts can pick up such useful knowledge at AOX 2026. Photo credit: Thomas Foo. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/11_DMyFqYLd_rmr7qQMZ_T807Hkwv5aiC

Going Outdoors? Learn How to Pitch a Tent and Set Up Camp

Adventure does not always require a long expedition or a heavily modified vehicle. Sometimes, all it takes is a tent, a sleeping bag and the willingness to spend a night outdoors.

But setting up camp properly involves more than finding a patch of ground and driving a tent peg into the earth.

At AOX 2026, visitors can discover the basics of pitching a tent, organising a campsite and preparing for an outdoor stay. Knowing how to choose a suitable location, secure a tent and arrange essential equipment can make the difference between a comfortable night in nature and an uncomfortable experience.

For beginners, it is a chance to get hands-on with camping equipment without committing to a full expedition. Families and aspiring outdoor enthusiasts can also pick up useful knowledge before planning their first adventure.

For those who have always wondered what it feels like to sleep beneath a canopy of stars, this could be the first step towards a new passion.

Three Days to Discover a World of Adventure

AOX 2026 thus brings together the many dimensions of offroad and overland life — from riding skills and vehicle preparation to camping, equipment, history and the people who make up the adventure community.

Whether you are a seasoned expedition traveller, a motorcycle enthusiast, a 4x4 owner or someone who has always wondered what lies beyond the end of the road, there is something to learn and discover.

You might arrive to watch a precision riding challenge, leave with a better understanding of bush mechanics, or find yourself planning your first night under the stars.

You might even discover that the greatest part of an adventure is not the destination, but the skills you acquire, the people you meet and the confidence you gain along the way.

At AOX 2026, the adventure begins long before you leave the city.
