We often treat dreams like a guaranteed win. But life, much like the card game “21” or Blackjack doesn’t hand us success just because we want it. It’s not just about playing; it’s about when, how, and what you risk.

In Blackjack, the aim is clear: reach 21 without going over. Sounds simple enough. But most people don’t realize this you can lose by pushing too hard. You hit one more time, thinking you’re almost there, and boom you bust. Game over.

That’s what chasing dreams can feel like.

The game begins with two cards, and you have the option to take up to three more to try to reach 21. But here’s the catch: while the deck has many small cards that can help you inch closer to your goal, it also holds the heavy hitters the 10s, Jacks, Queens, and Kings. These big-number cards are dangerous. One wrong draw, and you’re over. You bust. That’s the risk every player faces. But statistically, most of the deck is made up of smaller cards, meaning your chances of winning are naturally higher if you play smart. It’s not about always aiming for the perfect 21. Sometimes, holding a steady 18 or 19 is enough to win the round. And in life, it’s the same with dreams. You don’t need to chase perfection. You need to understand your situation, be aware of the risks, and play your cards your actions with patience and discipline. That’s where real success begins.

A Dream Can’t Exist Without Reality

And I did. I dreamed again and again but most of my dreams failed. Nothing seemed to work. It took time, struggle, and disappointment for me to finally understand: it wasn't that my dreams were wrong it was that I dreamed at the wrong time, with overconfidence, ego, and simplistic thinking. In Blackjack, even if you hold a strong hand say 18 it’s tempting to reach for perfection. One more hit. Maybe a 3. But often, that greed to get it “just right” is what breaks you. Similarly, I had dreams that looked exciting, glorious, full of potential. But I didn’t check where I stood. I didn’t ask: Can I really hold this hand?

Dreams Are Powerful But Only When They’re Timed Right

As Swami Vivekananda once said, "A dream cannot be without a reality, and that reality is that one Infinite Existence." This reminds us that dreams are not illusions they are rooted in something deeper, something real. But for a dream to manifest, it must be aligned with the truth of where we stand and who we are.

Dreaming is powerful. It gives us direction. It fuels our hope. But dreams alone are not enough. They must be rooted in the reality we live in. When we don’t align our dreams with where we are emotionally, mentally, financially we risk setting ourselves up for heartbreak. You don’t play 21 with your eyes closed. Likewise, don’t dream with your heart shut to reality. In Blackjack, there’s no undo button. You make a move, and that card comes out for better or worse. There’s no going back. Dreams are the same. You invest time, energy, even relationships and sometimes, what you chase crumbles. Not because it was foolish, but because it wasn’t yet your turn. It wasn’t your card. That’s not failure. That’s life asking you to reshuffle. So don’t give up on dreaming. But make your dreams walk beside you not run ahead of you. Let them guide your actions, not escape your reach. In 21, the smartest players don’t aim to win big every hand. They aim to play long enough, steady enough, to stay in the game. The same goes for dreams. It’s not about the perfect score. It’s about lasting long enough to let your hand your life turn around. Because when a dream is timed right, placed right, and pursued right it stops being a fantasy and starts becoming your future.

Final Thought:

Don’t let the wrong timing fool you into thinking your dream is wrong.

Don’t let one bad card stop you from playing your hand with care and courage.

And most of all don’t bet everything on something you haven’t thought through.

Dream wisely. Play bravely. Live fully.

That’s the real game. And that’s how you win.
