KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 — Police arrested three more men early this morning over an Aug 22 illegal racing incident that saw a stretch of the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link Expressway blocked off to traffic.
The suspects, aged 30 to 40, were arrested at 1.30 am in the parking area of a Sentul condominium, said Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali.
He said all the suspects tried to flee during the arrest but were caught by police.
“Of the three arrested, one is believed to be a race rider, while the other two were spectators.
“All the suspects have been taken to the Kulai Traffic Police Station, Johor for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) and Section 81(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement today.
Muhammed Hasbullah said firm action will continue against those involved in illegal racing activities that endanger road users.
On Aug 24, police secured a four-day remand order for eight men, including a motoring influencer, in connection with the case.
The incident went viral on social media after video footage showed a group stopping road users to allow them to race. — Bernama
