KAJANG, Nov 24 — A large number of uniformed police officers arrived at the home of Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Sungai Long here this afternoon, waiting to escort him to Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur for his swearing-in ceremony as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail led officers from the Ceremonial and International Conference Secretariat, a division under the Prime Minister’s Department, into the house.

Outside, a separate group of police officers and outriders on motorcycles waited their turn.

Anwar is expected to take his oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong at 5pm today.

The palace had named him prime minister at lunchtime following a Conference of Rulers meeting in the morning for a way out of the four-week post-election political deadlock.
