We have Menu Rahmah, all thanks to the government’s initiative to ease the burden of low-income citizens. Since its introduction, Malaysians have been enjoying good food at a much cheaper price without a compromise on the quality, and some of us may wonder, what else can be Rahmah-ed?

As Raya is about 3 weeks away, it’s time for those who celebrate to shop for new clothes. If you’re out of budget, do try Baju Raya Rahmah. Yes, we mean it.

At the price of Rm148, you can fancy yourself with a brand new Baju Raya Rahmah from Jakel, a collaboration between the boutique and the Ministry of Domestic Trade & Cost of Living (KPDN). Jakel originally sold their collection of Baju Raya at RM378 before the price was marked down to RM258. When the government collaborated and after discussions, Jaked decided to set the price for Baju Raya Rahmah at Rm148.

The Minister of KPDN, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said that Jakel has allocated 2 million sets of Baju Melayu Rahmah.

As for the ladies, Salahuddin has both good and bad news for you. The bad news is the price for female Baju Raya cannot be fixed due to the details of the accessories. The good news is, it is still below the affordable price!

As for how long will the price be maintained, Salahuddin said that Jakel will make Baju Raya Rahmah available until the end of Raya (around the end of May) as many will celebrate Raya for a month, according to Utusan.

“If buyers have any complaints about the quality, they may reach out to KPDN.”

Is it really Rahmah?

The announcement was also shared on KPDN’s Twitter page, but many Malaysians couldn’t relate to the elements of Rahmah in the Baju Raya given the price.

“If you don’t think it’s Rahmah for you, go to Mydin. It’s Rahmah there, for as cheap as RM30, or wherever you think is cheap. Be a wise consumer, know what you can afford and stop finding the government’s fault.”

“You mean Rahmah for Jakel. So far, the cheapest Baju Melayu I’ve seen was RM99.”

“It’s Rahmah if it’s RM50-Rm80. This is KakMah (Rosmah)’s pricing.”

“This is still expensive. I’ve never bought a Baju Melayu for more than RM120.”

“Rm148 for a family is Rahmah, not for 1 person.”

“It all depends on the consumers. Know what you can afford. My children and I can get Baju Raya at a far cheaper price. It’s not Rahmah, but it’s far cheaper.”

If you’re looking for a Baju Raya, does this exceed your budget? Do you think this price qualifies as Rahmah?
