While many people are particular about their career and how to climb the corporate ladder, some would rather not fuss about it and just stay the same.

Recently, a woman shared her experience facing this particular issue with her current partner. In her post on Dcard, she said, “I have a boyfriend that just graduated last week and after his graduation, we had a big fight. After his graduation ceremony, we had a small gathering with his friends.”

She mentioned that while they were conversing, a friend of theirs brought up the topic about looking for a job and was asking if they’ve figured out which career path they’ll be taking.

Her boyfriend then answered their friend saying, “I just want to work in a convenience store and play mobile games for the rest of my life.”

She shared that their friends would think he is joking but she knows how serious he was because he is addicted to his mobile games.

“During weekends, I would usually go for English classes to help enhance my skills and occasionally, he would say that I don’t spend much time with him.”

“He would often question me as to why I want to trouble myself and isn’t a simple life enough for me,” she added.

She then expressed that she feels frustrated because to be able to leave a ‘simple’ life, you’ll still need money, and she doesn’t want to spend her days constantly worrying if there’s enough money to get through the month.

She then ended the post saying that she feels like breaking up as she doesn’t see a future with him.

Netizens shared their thoughts

Following her post, many netizens then commented their thoughts and here’s what some of them said:

“To have a life that isn’t challenging and a job that brings him comfort isn’t wrong. If this is what he wants and it makes him happy, then that’s great for him. Both of you have valid points and it’s not wrong.”

Another commented, “If your boyfriend comes from a rich family or has houses as inheritance then I think it’s fine if he wants to work in a convenience store forever.”
