(UPDATE) MANILA, Philippines — Fuel prices and water rates are expected to go even higher next week and in April respectively as the Middle East war rages, disrupting oil supply and forcing foreign currency and tariff adjustments.

The source said that diesel prices would soar to between P19.30 to P22.30 per liter, while gasoline is estimated  P14.00 to P17.00 per liter.

These estimates are based on the 4-day trading of Mean of Platts, Singapore, the pricing basis of refined goods in Southeast Asia.

This week, diesel prices jumped by around P17.50 to P24.25 per liter, while gasoline prices increased by around P7.00 to P13.00 per liter as local oil companies implemented several price adjustments.

Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) on Friday said that the water rate increase would be enforced in April.

Maynilad and Manila Water residents who consume up to 20 cubic meters will have no adjustments for the period.

Meanwhile, Maynilad customers consuming 10 cubic meters or less will pay an additional P0.27 per month, while those consuming over 20 and 30 cubic meters will pay an additional P1 per month and P2.07 per month, respectively.

Manila Water customers under the regular rates or those consuming 10 cubic meters or less will pay an additional P0.14 per month, while those consuming 20 and 30 cubic meters will pay an additional P0.29 per month, and an additional P0.58 per month, respectively.
