KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians can now access the Budi Madani RON95 (Budi95) fuel subsidy directly through the Touch ‘n Go (TNG) eWallet app at participating petrol stations nationwide without the need to present their MyKad.

In a statement today, TNG Digital Sdn Bhd, the company behind TNG eWallet, said that users can check their eligibility, monitor their subsidised balance, and make payments all within the app.

The new system, it said, delivers three key benefits, which include a unified app experience across all fuel stations, the removal of physical MyKad verification, and seamless integration with Setel at Petronas outlets.

“As all TNG eWallet users are already verified through electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC), it is not necessary to show a physical identification card at the pump or counter,” the statement read.

The company added that every account is securely linked to a user’s verified identity and mobile device, ensuring a safer and more convenient way to access the government subsidy.

To help users navigate the process, TNG Digital has rolled out a series of step-by-step instructional videos on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, XHS, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Meanwhile, the National Fishermen’s Association (Nekmat) hailed the expansion of the Budi95 initiative to more than 17,900 fishermen registered under the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), calling it a timely move to ease operational costs.

Nekmat Board chairman Abdul Hamid Bahari said the inclusion of fishermen reflects the government’s commitment to supporting the community amid rising fuel prices and the approaching monsoon season.

“The move is crucial in helping fishermen face current economic challenges and the upcoming monsoon season, while demonstrating the government’s commitment to including them in fuel subsidies,” he was quoted saying by Bernama.

“The association also wishes to thank the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and LKIM for their assistance in coordinating data and ensuring all eligible fishermen can access the BUDI95 benefits,” he added.

Abdul Hamid said Nekmat will continue working closely with the relevant ministries to ensure that all its members receive equitable access to the fuel subsidy.

The Ministry of Finance announced yesterday that the Budi95 scheme has been expanded to three additional groups, covering more than 31,000 Malaysians nationwide.

These include over 17,900 LKIM-registered fishermen, more than 4,300 private boat owners under the Sabah Ports and Harbours Department, and 9,700 new driving licence holders listed by the Road Transport Department. — October 8, 2025
