Fulham put Liverpool's procession towards the Premier League title on pause with a deserved 3-2 win, capitalising on some dreadful defending to boost their push for European football next term.
Alexis Mac Allister gave the champions-elect an early lead after Liverpool were arguably fortunate to not concede a penalty, but that was as good as it got for the Reds who then shipped three poor goals in 14 minutes.
Ryan Sessegnon rifled home a superb first-time volley, before Alex Iwobi and Rodrigo Muniz gave Fulham a two-goal lead. Conor Bradley set up fellow substitute Luis Diaz with nearly 20 minutes to play, but Fulham held on for the three points.
Liverpool remain top with 73 points from 31 games, 11 ahead of Arsenal. They need a maximum of 11 points from their remaining seven matches to win the title. Fulham moved up to eighth with 48 points, three behind Manchester City in fifth, a spot likely to be enough to secure a Champions League place next term.

Liverpool’s defence implodes as Fulham bag inspired win over Premier League leaders

Kieran Jackson at Craven Cottage
Who saw this coming? The 22,000 at Craven Cottage certainly didn’t, such was the state of utter stupefaction on a spring afternoon to remember in south-west London. Fulham were both dazzling and dogged and, indisputably, deserved winners. For Premier League champions-in-waiting Liverpool, though, it was simply a day to forget. One to write off. By extension for their defence, the opening period saw an utter implosion from all corners.

Very, very impressive from Fulham, deserved winners as they end Liverpool’s unbeaten record on the road in the Premier League this season. An 11-point lead it remains for Arne Slot’s side with the title still beckoning, but that is one of the worst performances of their campaign.

Fulham have gone to more of a back five, with Ryan Sessegnon dropping into a wing-back role in front of Antonee Robinson.

Uncharacteristic profligacy from Mohamed Salah! It’s a glorious, glorious chance for the Liverpool forward, found nicely with a curving pass from Luis Diaz but passing it up as he skies his side-foot on the half-volley over the crossbar. By his standards, it’s a shocker of a miss.

A brilliant chance for Diogo Jota - and a top stop from Bernd Leno! Well, that was rather good from Fulham. They’ve hassled, they’ve harried and they’ve threatened throughout, and head down the tunnel deservedly ahead. Alexis Mac Allister’s opener rather came out of nowhere in a half otherwise dominated by the hosts.
Time for a rare use of the hairdryer from Arne Slot? His side just haven’t seemed to have had the sharpness required at all, which is peculiar in a domestic campaign in which they have shown such consistency.

A third! What a half this is from Fulham!
A fine, fine goal from Rodrigo Muniz. A wonderfully timed nudge on Virgil van Dijk is just within the bounds of legality, and Muniz’s touch of a bouncing ball is clever and cutting, taking and turning in one motion to burst beyond the Liverpool defender.
Through Caoimhin Kelleher he slots - remarkable!

It’s not been Andy Robertson’s best campaign, even with Liverpool flying high domestically. That attempted pass across his own box was a really curious decision.

Fulham lead! An error from Andy Robertson and Alex Iwobi capitalises!
Robertson stares into the middle distance, unable to believe his double error. The Scot originally gives the ball away with a hopeless crossfield pass destined for danger, with Iwobi cutting it off long before it can reach Curtis Jones.
Iwobi’s initial effort is blocked up into the air and lands in the proximity of Robertson, but the left-back can’t conclusively clear. Iwobi makes no mistake at the second attempted - aided by a flick off the hapless Liverpool defender.

But now Fulham have an equaliser!
Lovely football and a crisp, clean finish! Sessegnon’s clever run drags Andy Robertson inside, creating room for Andreas Pereira on the right to deliver a cross. Curtis Jones can’t adequately deal with it, a thud off his quadricep muscle sending the ball bobbling across the box, and Sessegnon is sharp of thought and foot to slam it home.

Spectacular! What an opener from Alexis Mac Allister!
That’s some goal. Ryan Gravenberch wins the ball back for Liverpool and releases his midfield partner, Mac Allister able to hold off the significantly larger Sander Berge and drive onwards. A little jink to the right opens up room for the Argentine to unfurl a rasping drive which rattles past a sprawling Bernd Leno and into the top corner.

Liverpool are certainly attempting to explore that side. A raking pass from Virgil van Dijk briefly appears to have sprung Jones but Antonee Robinson retreats in time.
Andreas Pereira is having a prolonged discussion with the referee, perhaps feeling that he had been fouled by Caoimhin Kelleher after releasing the pass to Rodrigo Muniz earlier. VAR did have a look at that passage but concluded that there had been no obvious error.
