Full list of storm names for 2026/27 season revealed

• The Met Office, Met Éireann, and KNMI have revealed the storm names for the 2026/27 season, with Austen, Boelo, and Chloe leading the list.
• Following over 40,000 public suggestions, the names selected honour weather enthusiasts, pets, meteorological pioneers, and Aardman animation's Shaun the Sheep.
• Met Éireann chose names to mark its 90th anniversary, such as Austen, in honour of Austen Nagle, the first director of the Irish Meteorological Service.
• The initiative began in 2015, with the Met Office saying naming storms helps people prepare and stay safe in severe weather.
• The list runs alphabetically, missing out Q, U, X, Y and Z, under naming conventions used for storms in the North Atlantic.
