RANAU: The Fun Run in conjunction with the Sabah West Coast National Sports Day at the Ranau District Council (MDR) field received encouraging response from more than 1,000 participants.
In addition to the Fun Run participants, a total of 170 others participated in the Fun Ride (cycling) in conjunction with the programme officiated by Deputy Home Minister II, Datuk Jonathan Yasin.
Jonathan, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ranau, praised the organising committee, especially the Federal Youth and Sports Ministry West Coast Division, for successfully managing the programme by choosing Ranau as the location this year.
This, he said, had given the space and opportunity for the people to meet physically after the Covid-19 epidemic which has been raging for the past two years.
“The iconic programme of the Federal Youth and Sports Ministry which is carried out simultaneously throughout the country, is to create a culture where people are sensitive to the importance of playing sports for the sake of continued health,” he said. Also present and speaking was Ranau District Officer, Jumain Abd Ghani.
