This year's Fête de la Musique (Festival of Music) posted a record in Germany on June 21 this year with 75,000 musicians playing at 45,000 concerts attended by an audience of around four million in more than 180 municipalities.

"Our aim is for people to participate in, encounter and exchange about music," Antje Valentin, head of the German music council said in a statement released by Fête de la Musique Germany on Tuesday.

Fête de la Musique was launched in France in 1982 and is today held in more than 1,000 locations around the world.
