Former Barcelona midfielder Marc Crosas has branded Ernesto Valverde's team as boring.
Crosas' claim was made after Barca's 0-0 draw with Champions League opponents Slavia Prague.
"Barcelona have become a dull team because they reflect their coach," Crosas explained in an interview with RAC1.
"Valverde is a good coach and he has done important things, as he has won two league titles, but he is dull."
Many Barcelona fans have been yearning for the team to recapture the style of football shown in the years of Pep Guardiola, and to a lesser extent Luis Enrique, but Valverde seems set in his ways.
"The question isn't whether Barcelona are losing their identity, it has already been lost," Crosas said.
"Barcelona no longer have their own philosophy.
"It's not just about winning matches, the problem is how to recover that lost DNA."
