Kota Kinabalu: The Malaysian People’s Power Movement (G57) told Sabah Umno to reflect if they are truly fighting for the people when choosing to cooperate with Parti Warisan Sabah.
G57 Chairman Datuk Zulkarnain Mahdar said it was fortunate that the attempt to overthrow the State Government in January had failed.
“When there is a change of government, of course development planning will be stunted and this has been proven when Warisan overthrew the Barisan Nasional government in 2018,” he said in a statement, Tuesday.
Zulkarnain was commenting on Sabah Umno Information Chief Suhaimi Nasir’s recent statement which queried Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
Hajiji, in a policy speech during the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (Gagasan Rakyat) Annual General Conference last Monday, said he hoped for no more coups, to enable the Government to focus on progress and prosperity of the State.
“The G57 is of the view that what Hajiji voiced is fact which Suhaimi and the whole Sabah Umno leadership who are allies of (Warisan President) Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal should accept.
“Has Sabah Umno forgotten that in 2018 the Barisan Nasional government was overthrown by Warisan just two days of ruling the State?
“Don’t forget the ‘Sempornasisation’ issue where Sabah’s Deputy Chief Minister was from Semporna, including various appointments for certain administrative positions to supposed relatives of Shafie.
“Their failure in managing the economy had Sabah’s GDP rate plummet to 0.5 per cent from 8.2 per cent. The most significant failure was not a single foreign investor,” he said.
Zulkarnain said Suhaimi and Sabah Umno’s cooperation with Warisan to stab Hajiji in the back was clearly wrong.
