Valencia president Anil Murthy has hit out at the press after a chaotic start to the season.
Before their Champions League win at Chelsea, Murthy was asked directly if he had apologised to the players on behalf of club owner Peter Lim over the sacking of Marcelino.
But he responded: "Throughout the summer the fans have been victims of some members of the press, it is not a novelty here, in Valencia we are used to it, I said it, the club wants to transmit its messages and have its own voice, because there's some journalists who prefer to turn things on for their own benefit and not for the club.
"Now the important thing is to win games and win confidence of the fans, I think we will return to normal."
