Kota Kinabalu: GAB Membakut emerged champions in the President Cup MPP Penampang 2024 football tournament held over the weekend at the Penampang Sports Complex and Penampang Municipal Council fields.
They came from a goal down to beat Sigah Penampang 2-1 in the final. Julius Gerald put Sigah Penampang ahead in the 15th minute before Matdali Bidin scored twice in the 25th and 25 minutes in the 30-minute game.
AdvertisementThe champions took home RM5,000 cash prize while the runners-up had to settle for RM2,000 and RM1,000 each were awarded to AKIE Legend (Ranau) and Putatan United Football Club, who were the losing semi-finalists.
A total of 11 teams participated in the two-day veteran competition organised by Penampang Unity Football Club and Fairplay Sports & Events Management.
