
Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari chaired two high-level review meetings to assess the progress of major National Highway corridor projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and key multimodal infrastructure initiatives being implemented by the National Highways & Logistics Management Limited (NHLML).
Reviewing the status of ongoing National Highway corridor projects, the Minister assessed the progress of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, Chittoor-Thatchur Corridor, Raipur-Visakhapatnam Economic Corridor and Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Andhra Pradesh. He also reviewed the Nagpur-Vijayawada Corridor and Solapur-Chennai Corridor in Telangana.
Gadkari emphasised the need for timely execution and directed all implementing agencies to resolve pending issues through close coordination, ensuring project milestones are achieved on schedule. He said the completion of these corridors would enhance seamless connectivity, enable faster movement of people and goods, strengthen regional economic growth, and contribute to the government’s vision of developing world-class highway infrastructure under the Viksit Bharat initiative.
In another review meeting, the Minister assessed the progress of NHLML’s flagship infrastructure projects, including Multi Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs), Ropeways, Intermodal Stations, and Way Side Amenities being developed across the country.
Highlighting the significance of these projects, Gadkari emphasised the strategic importance of these transformative initiatives in building a future-ready, integrated transport ecosystem. He noted that the initiatives would enhance multimodal connectivity, unlock new economic opportunities, promote balanced regional development, and enhance India’s overall logistics competitiveness.
The minister also reviewed project-level challenges affecting project implementation and directed all concerned stakeholders to remove bottlenecks on priority and expedite project execution. He stated that the timely completion of these projects will improve logistics efficiency, reduce transportation costs and provide world-class infrastructure and amenities for commuters.
